The former vice-President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jean-Pierre Bemba has been sentenced to 12 months for witness tampering. However, he will not be returning to jail. The International Criminal Court says the conviction is considered time served. Bemba has been fined 300,000 euros in the witness tampering case. 3 months ago the same court acquitted him for war crimes. Bemba was hoping to run in the DRC elections in December but the constitutional court in the country has said that he is ineligible.
